Muadi Mukenge, new Ipas Chief of Development and External Relations

Ipas is pleased to welcome our new Chief of Development and External Relations, Muadi Mukenge.

As part of the executive leadership at Ipas, Muadi will oversee and provide strategic direction for the organization’s work on partnerships, development, and communications. Her vision will be integral in crafting and executing long- and short-range fundraising and communications initiatives in support of Ipas’s mission.

“Muadi will be a tremendous addition to our executive leadership team at Ipas. She is well respected in national and global coalitions and has been a thought leader on political and women’s rights trends. And she is a dedicated advocate for reproductive health and rights,” says Ipas President and CEO, Anu Kumar.

Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Muadi brings more than 19 years of leadership experience in international philanthropy, communications, and development. She spent five years at the Pacific Institute for Women’s Health, where she managed an initiative on communications strategies for African women’s nonprofits. Also during her tenure, she managed research for a community-based initiative to prevent unintended pregnancies and maternal mortality and to increase access to post-abortion care in Western Kenya. Most recently, Muadi oversaw grantmaking, special initiatives, and resource mobilization for Sub-Saharan Africa for the Global Fund for Women from 2004–2016, growing its work most significantly in rural communities and Francophone Africa.

“I am committed to Ipas’s mission to end unsafe abortion around the world and to the shared vision that every woman and girl can determine her own future,” says Mukenge. “I’m thrilled to do this work.”
