Eliana Olaizola, MD
Ipas Mexico Director
Dr. Olaizola has nearly 15 years of experience in clinical and programmatic leadership, strategy development, advocacy, and negotiation and collaboration with governments and other partners. Her work is firmly rooted in a human rights approach, and has focused on reaching rural, isolated and/or vulnerable populations with primary and reproductive health care. Dr. Olaizola joined Ipas after working with Doctors without Borders as a Field Doctor, Medical Coordinator and Mission Coordinator, and, most recently, with the International Committee of the Red Cross, where she served as Regional Health Coordinator for Mexico for three years. Dr. Olaizola has served in very challenging environments in Kenya, Ecuador, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and Morocco, where her work often focused on migrant or transitory populations and populations affected by trafficking and violence.
Dr. Olaizola was trained as a medical doctor in Argentina, specializing in infectious diseases. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
