​Jagadishwor Ghimire leads Ipas Nepal’s work to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights, bringing more than 20 years of experience in health systems strengthening, SRHR and development programming.
Since joining Ipas in 2020 as deputy director and later assuming leadership of the country program, Ghimire has guided the design and implementation of complex initiatives that strengthen health systems, expand access to care, and address the intersecting challenges that affect the lives of women and girls. Under his leadership, Ipas Nepal has advanced work in safe abortion and contraception, gender-based violence prevention and response, climate-resilient health systems, humanitarian response, and community-led reproductive justice. Beginning in January 2025, Ghimire has also served as a member of the Ipas Network Leadership Group.
Before joining Ipas, Jagadish held leadership and technical roles multiple organizations like UNFPA, CARE Nepal, PSI/Nepal, and other international public health organizations, focusing on strengthening contraception, gender-based violence prevention, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. He has worked closely with government institutions, donors, civil society organizations, and multicultural teams to build partnerships that deliver lasting impact for communities.
A skilled strategist and relationship builder, Ghimire brings expertise in strategic planning, program management, partnerships, financial stewardship and organizational leadership. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Population Studies, Master’s Degrees in Public Health and Master’s in Sociology from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He is currently pursuing a PhD looking at the impact of foreign aid on the health system in Nepal, from University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia. He has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for his contributions to sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate-resilient health systems, and maternal, newborn, and child health in Nepal. His work focuses on strengthening locally led solutions, fostering shared leadership, and advancing health equity for underserved populations.
