Zainab Yunusa is a feminist activist dedicated to advancing women’s and girls’ rights and advocating gender equality. She currently serves as a Programme Analyst for UNFPA ESARO’s work on Megatrends and Gender Equality & Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, generating research evidence on megatrends, including climate change, to advance policy advocacy and programming for gender-transformative climate action while enhancing meaningful youth engagement.
As a development practitioner with experience in community and international development, her work focuses on research, evidence-based policy advocacy, and gender-transformative approaches in sexual and reproductive health, youth agency and empowerment, and climate justice. Zainab has previously worked with Plan International and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.
Zainab is also a member of the UNFCCC’s Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) advocacy network, the SRHR & Climate Justice Coalition, and the UNFPA Joint Youth Working Group on SRHR and Climate Change. She advocates for marginalized groups’ inclusion and meaningful engagement in climate change decisionmaking and action. She is a Chevening awardee with a Master’s in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex.
