Lilianne Ploumen is a Dutch feminist activist, currently serving as senior advisor at Bureau Clara Wichmann, advancing women’s rights through strategic litigation and access to justice. She was a member of the Parliament of the Netherlands from 2017 to 2022 and was Leader of PvdA (the Labour Party) until April 2022. Ms. Ploumen previously served as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation from 2012 to 2017. She initiated the SheDecides movement in January 2017, which saw more than $400 million USD pledged to organizations affected by the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule. She brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit organizations, having worked at Mama Cash, Cordaid, and PLAN International. She holds a master’s degree from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
