Medical abortion (or medication abortion) has been proven a very safe and effective method of termination of pregnancy and has been approved as such in dozens of countries. Ample evidence also exists that it is the preferred method of abortion by women using it. Even countries with restrictive abortion laws should provide the full range of options—including medical abortion—for women legally entitled to terminate a pregnancy.
