Mosotho Gabriel, BA (CUR), MA, is Country Director for Ipas South Africa. Ms. Gabriel joined the Ipas staff in 2004 with more than 15 years of work experience as a nurse-midwife, family-planning clinical manager, trainer, administrator and public-health officer. From 1998 to April 2004, she worked as a Deputy Director at the Reproductive Health Research Unit, the largest nongovernmental reproductive organization in South Africa, where she was responsible for managing and coordinating sexual and reproductive health training programs. She worked with Ipas from 1998 to 2000 to develop the abortion-care curriculum and training manual for registered midwives/nurses in South Africa. She played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act in South Africa. In 2000, Ms. Gabriel worked as a Deputy Director for the Ministry of Health in the International Health Liaison Directorate. She earned a master’s degree in international health from Uppsala University in Sweden in June 2003.
