This factsheet explains the Global Gag Rule (GGR), which limits international groups’ funding of abortion services and their capacity to offer information or advice about such services. This publication also uses examples from Ethiopia, Kenya and Nepal, among other countries, to illustrate the policy’s effects on women and health-care provision worldwide. Additionally, it documents how the GGR is especially damaging to poor women and does not reduce abortion.
