Our voices, our health: Latinas share their stories

June 24, 2008

Tania Connaughton-Espino and Sara Gómez

Abortion. Reproductive Health. Reproductive Rights. Sexual Violence.

2008

This booklet interweaves personal stories with service-delivery recommendations and background information to provide an intimate glimpse into the specific reproductive health-care needs and challenges of Latina immigrants. Broken down into four sections: Planning Our Families, Making Difficult Decisions — Abortion, Coping with Depression and Isolation, and Confronting Violence in Our Homes — Our Voices, Our Health is designed to promote the implementation of culturally sensitive programs that ensure Latinas receive the highest standard of health care and are enabled to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights, including the right to information and education, the right to health care and health protection, the right to decide whether or when to have children and the means and information to do so.
