Ipas is an international non-profit organization committed to providing high
quality MVA technology. We stand behind the instruments we distribute and ensure
compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and quality standards for
medical devices. Our instruments are listed with the FDA and we are ISO and
CE-certified. Ipas instruments are manufactured through a contract with Pacific
Hospital Supply (PAHSCO), a medical device manufacturer in Taiwan.
Ipas products are available only through designated distributors
or through Ipas directly. Ipas does not engage in online sales of MVA
instruments nor are we affiliated with any entity selling MVA instruments
through the Internet.
A number of commercial manufacturers and distributors sell other, non-Ipas
manual vacuum instruments, principally single-valve aspirators and selected
cannulae. Other manufacturers sometimes attempt to imitate the Ipas instruments
and/or labeling. However, purchasers should be aware that the quality may not be
reliable and that purchasing from other sources carries risks.
If you choose to purchase MVA instruments from another source, you should
consider the following questions:
- Do you know who manufactures the instruments?
- Does that manufacturer guarantee their quality and ensure that they
are safe for use in your clinical practice? Does the manufacturer have the
internationally recognized ISO or CE quality registrations?
- Does the manufacturer provide timely and comprehensive customer
service? In the case of problems or defects, can you reach the manufacturer by
phone or in-person and be assured that problems or defects will be
resolved?
- Is the product you are purchasing from another entity legally
registered for use in your country? Are you aware that importing unregistered,
non-Ipas instruments may violate your country's laws and regulations?
- If you purchase online, do you have the documentation necessary to
retrieve the instruments from customs?
