Ipas, an international not-for-profit women’s health organization, announces the latest addition to its line of high-quality reproductive-health products, Ipas EasyGrip® cannulae. The new autoclavable cannulae are specifically designed for use with the reusable 60cc Ipas Double-Valve aspirator to form the Ipas MVA system for performing uterine evacuation procedures.

State-of-the-art latex-free plastics used in the manufacture of Ipas EasyGrip cannulae provide the tactile response of a rigid curette with the gentle probe of a flexible cannula.

Available in sizes 4-12mm, Ipas EasyGrip cannulae utilize permanently affixed bases which eliminate the need for adapters to connect to the aspirator, resulting in fewer parts to lose and more efficient procedure preparation. These bases are color-coded by size for rapid differentiation and are constructed with “wings” to facilitate easy insertion and removal from the aspirator.

Ipas EasyGrip cannulae may be processed along with other medical devices by most standard methods, including steam autoclave, resulting in increased efficiency and an extremely low per-procedure cost. The cannulae are individually wrapped and are sterilized with ethylene oxide gas, remaining sterile as long as the wrapper is intact or until the expiration of the three-year shelf life.

Ipas EasyGrip cannulae are currently available in Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, Ethiopia and the United States and will be available globally in July 2003.

In addition to the Ipas Double-Valve aspirator and Ipas EasyGrip cannulae, Ipas products include Denniston plastic cervical dilators and the Ipas anatomical pelvic model for training. Ipas products are distributed through a global distribution network currently serving over 40 countries on five continents.
