Mapping our Rights
“Mapping Our Rights: Navigating Discrimination Against Women, Men and Families” can help everyone learn about how their states respect or restrict their rights.

On May 31, Ipas and partners launched a new Web site that ranks all 50 American states on their legislation concerning reproductive and sexual rights.

“Mapping Our Rights: Navigating Discrimination Against Women, Men and Families” was presented at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.

Complete with state-by-state rankings, “Mapping Our Rights” is an ideal tool for monitoring state policies. A resource that will help activists, journalists and researchers, it can also be used by individuals who want to know whether their state respects their fundamental rights to have a family and control their own reproductive ability or health care.

The site measures where the states stand on reproductive and sexual rights by using 25 indicators, including public funding for abortion and whether same-sex couples can marry or adopt.

“Mapping Our Rights” is a collaboration between Ipas, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective.
